Works in stock available by Appointment

Carl was included in the 2012 'Afterimage' Exhibition at the De Paul University Art Museum. His work was also introduced to our gallery via the excellent Corbett Vs Dempsey Gallery in Chicago which had included him in their 'Big Youth' Exhibition. Carl is one of natural successors of the Chicago Imagist painters of the 1960s and 70s, some of whom are still working today and indeed teaching at the SAIC, through which Baratta progressed as a student. Baratta's technique defers as much to intricate attention paid to surface as it does to the fantastical landscapes of Yoakum, Brown et al; Chicago legends who had gone before. There is also an undeniable nod to the odd Kandinsky which the artist occasionally passes by during his current day job at the Art Institute of Chicago. Baratta will be included in the 2014 Exhibition, 'Now Chicago'.
